Computer Science 200 – TME/Unit 1 - Chapter 5: The Internet – Internet Research #3
What are the major Web browsers? What are their strengths and weaknesses?
The following, in no particular order are the major Web browsers evaluated by PC Magazine.
For Windows:
- Mozilla Firefox 17
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 10
- Google Chrome 23
- Apple Safari 5.1.7
- Netscape Navigator 9
- Opera 12
For iPad:
- Opera Mini 7
- Mercury Web Browser Pro
- Dolphin Browser
- Google Chrome
For Android:
- Maxthon 2.7
- Dolphin
- Mozilla Firefox
- Opera Mobile
- Google Chrome
Now, since PCMag has deemed Google Chrome as the best Web browser for Windows, I decided to investigate as to whether other leading experts agreed with them. First of all, the features in which rendered Google Chrome “the best” according to PCMag are its HTML5 support along with the built-in PDF reader and Flash player. TopTenREVIEWS has Google Chrome listed as number one and reports that “Chrome boasts top-notch speed, secure browsing and sync capabilities that allow you to access your customized browser from any computer.” PC World‘s HTML5 benchmark test saw large increases in performance with both Chrome and IE 9.
Personally, I’ve always used Firefox and so I think it’s time to try out Google Chrome, considering its HTML5 support, the audio and video issues I sometimes have with Firefox will likely be reduced.

Agreed on using Firefox, we recommend it the highest too. We wrote a similar article – a good call for people, since so many are not educated on the differences. Good reading.
Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest writing a blog article or vice-versa?
My site addresses a lot of the same topics as yours and I
think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you might be interested feel free to send me
